Françoise Mouly is the publisher, Editorial Director and Senior Designer of TOON Books, which she launched in 2008. She has been the art editor at The New Yorker since 1993, where she has overseen more than a fourteen hundred covers. Many of these have been named cover of the year by the American Society of Magazine Editors (ASME). In 2012, for the publication of “Les Dessous du New Yorker” by Éditions de La Martinière, Galerie Martel in Paris presented “New Yorker Covers,” an exhibit of artwork by Mouly and seventeen other artists.
In 1978, she co-founded RAW Books & Graphics with Art Spiegelman, her husband and frequent collaborator. From 1980 to 1992, she published and co-edited RAW magazine, the groundbreaking comics magazine which launched Sue Coe, Charles Burns, Gary Panter, Lynda Barry, Richard McGuire, Chris Ware, and so many others and first published Spiegelman’s Maus. In 2017, Ms. Mouly began publishing RESIST!, a collection of comics and graphics primarily by women, coedited with her daughter, writer Nadja Spiegelman.

In 1998, after looking for material to help her two children become readers, Ms. Mouly established a RAW Junior division, to publish first the Little Lit collection of comics with HarperCollins, then the TOON Treasury of Classic Children's Comics with Abrams, and launched the TOON Books imprint.
Born in Paris, Françoise moved to New York in 1974. She was named Chevalier in the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Ministry of Culture. Among the many honors she has received are an honorary Doctorate from Pratt Institute, and Gold and Silver medals as well as the Richard Gangel Art Director Award from the Society of Illustrators. In the Fall of 2014, she received the Eric Carle Museum's Bridge Award, which goes to "an individual whose work has been instrumental in extending the boundaries of the illustrated book for young people." In 2015, Ms. Mouly was the recipient of the Smithsonian Ingenuity Award for her work in Education. She received France’s highest honor, the Ordre National de la Légion d'Honneur in 2011 and, in 2021, she was inducted in the Will Eisner Hall of Fame.
She and her husband live in Manhattan. Her favorite TOON Book is Jack and the Box, because "it's a great metaphor for a book as well as a great book."

Tucker's editorial work is complemented by his extensive sales and marketing background in the comics world, including several years at Nobrow, Flying Eye Books and Ingram.
In addition to his work at TOON, he is the current President of USBBY, the regional chapter of the International Board on Books For Young People.

Linette Kim
Senior Marketing Manager
Linette is a New Yorker by way of the Bay Area in California. She earned a molecular and cell biology degree at UC Berkeley before moving to NYC to switch career tracks and work on her first love: children's books. She began with production work at McGraw-Hill before moving into advertising services at Scholastic Inc., followed by school and library marketing at Bloomsbury Publishing. She went on to launch the school and library department at Inkyard Press, a children's imprint at HarperCollins, before joining the growing world of TOON Books.
Her favorite TOON book is Lost in NYC: A Subway Adventure. It's her new go-to book for gifting books to her friends and family (kids and adults alike!).

Chayo Iannone

Chayo fell in love with comics in high school and hasn’t stopped working with them since. Originally from the suburbs of New York City, she’s now firmly based in Brooklyn. Chayo interned at several publishers including First Second, Marvel Entertainment, and Gallery Books before joining TOON.
Chayo/s favorite TOON book is The Dragon Slayer: Folktales from Latin America, because she is fond of the Nicaraguan culture she grew up with and she loves finding more and more details of it in the book.

Kevin McCloskey
TOON Author and Ambassador Kevin McCloskey is the author of the critically acclaimed TOON Books “Giggle and Learn” series and an illustration professor at Pennsylvania’s Kutztown University. His first TOON Book, We Dig Worms, was described as “a winning combination of facts and gross-out fun” by The New York Times. Richard Kutner
Head of Education Department Richard is a translator of both prose and graphic literature, with a forty-two-year background in education. He holds degrees from Yale and New York University and was the 2014 recipient of a Hemingway Translation Grant from the French Embassy for his work with TOON. Richard translated TOON’s Philemon and mythology series as well as The Great Antonio. He proofreads all TOON’s books, was the guest editor for The Real Poop on Pigeons!, and has created many lesson plans and teacher’s guides for TOON. |
