About the AuthorGeoffrey Hayes, the recipient of the ALA's prestigious Theodor Seuss Geisel Award, has written and illustrated more than forty children's books, including the extremely popular series of early readers Otto and Uncle Tooth. But Geoffrey's most beloved creations are the Benny and Penny TOON Books and the Patrick stories.
While there's some of Patrick in all of us, we can see a great deal of Geoffrey in him. Geoffrey says: "When I was six or seven, pea really did seem like 'little green balls of mushy poison.' Oddly enough, peas are now one of my favorite vegetables. Chilled pea soup with mint–that's simply delicious!" |
Reviews
"Another charmer from the reliable Hayes; newly independent readers won’t need any condiments to gobble it down."
--Kirkus Reviews "Whether Patrick is trying to persuade Ma that his peas are little green balls of mushy poison, giving Daddy a hand in the yard, flinging soapy tub water all over the bathroom, or trying to convince his parents that he isn’t sleepy, kids will recognize a bit of themselves in the sweet, funny bear." --Portland Book Review "Patrick Bear is a great way for early readers to chuckle along with age-alike characters while reading on their own." --Books 'n Bytes |
"Patrick is an excellent mirror into the lives of the kids we know."
--Help Readers Love Reading "This is a great book for a parent to read to their kid - the child will totally understand where Patrick is coming from, and the parent will love Patrick's parents facial expressions." --Novel Addiction |
